Quintana Promoted to Project Manager

Adrian Quintana

November 30, 2015–

Adrian Quintana has been promoted to AUI Project Manager. Adrian started with AUI as an Operator in 2004 and was promoted to Foreman later that year. He was promoted to Superintendent in 2007 and has provided field leadership on some of AUI’s most challenging roadway and utility projects, including the multiple award-winning Lead and Coal Avenues Improvements Project for the City of Albuquerque.

 

 

Bond Receives NMUCA Scholarship

June 22, 2015–

Corey Bond, AUI Project Manager Intern, has been awarded a 2015 New Mexico Utility Contractors Association (NMUCA) scholarship. Corey is a senior at the University of New Mexico majoring in Construction Management. He began his employment with AUI in 2011 as a laborer and was promoted to Surveyor Assistant in February of 2014 and Project Manager Intern in December of 2014.

 

 

Wofford Promoted to Project Manager

Dartanyan “Dart” Wofford has been promoted to AUI Project Manager. Dart started at AUI in 2009 as a Foreman and was promoted to Superintendent in 2012. He left AUI in 2013 to further his education and returned as a Project Manager Intern in 2014.  He recently completed his Associate of Science in Construction Management degree at Central New Mexico Community College.

Baca Named to “40 Under Forty”

SamB4-copyApril 8, 2015 – Sam Baca, Vice President, has been named to the “40 Under Forty Class of 2015” by Albuquerque Business First Magazine. Over 500 nominations were received and reviewed by a group of judges who are 40 Under Forty alumni and leaders in the community. Nominees were evaluated on professional achievement, leadership, and community involvement. An Albuquerque native and graduate of St. Pius X High School, Sam earned a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He has been with AUI since 2009 and was a 2012 graduate of Leadership New Mexico. His community service includes coaching youth sports (YAFL for 15 years, in addition to baseball and basketball), and volunteering for numerous community events such as the Carrie Tingley Hospital Mudd Volleyball Tournament and the Teach for America Golf Tournament.

Plese Promoted to Director of QC

Feb. 1, 2015–

Michael Plese, PE, has been promoted to Director of Quality Control. Immediately prior to joining AUI, Mr. Plese served as the Quality Control Manager for the I-25/Paseo Del Norte Design/Build Reconstruction Project. He also worked for the New Mexico Department of Transportation for 24 years, serving as the District 3 Construction Engineering for the last eight years of his tenure.

Zulka-King Receives Peer Recognition

AUI’s Chief Financial Officer, Michele Zulka-King, has been recognized by the New Mexico Society of CPAs (Society) as the 2014 Outstanding Member in Corporate Practice.

Michele earned a Bachelor of Accounting degree from NMSU and began her accounting career at KPMG Peat Marwick before moving into industry. She has been employed at AUI since 1992.

Michele is an active member of the Society and has served on many committees and the board of directors. She is also actively involved in the community as a volunteer with Junior Achievement. She is recognized by her peers as exhibiting professionalism, hard work, and an ethical attitude.

AUI Breaks Ground on Largest Project in Company History

Rio Bravo Groundbreaking

July 31, 2017–

The NMDOT held a groundbreaking ceremony for the I-25/Rio Bravo Interchange Project today, and construction is scheduled to begin on August 8th.

The $50M project is the largest in AUI’s 36-year history.
