Mudd Volleyball

The Annual Mudd Volleyball Tournament benefits the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the well being of children with special needs and their families at Carrie Tingley Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. According to their website, "Carrie Tingley Hospital provides health care needs for children and adolescents who require long-term medical and therapeutic care, such as the orthopedic and rehabilitative needs of spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and brain injuries". The Foundation's goal is to improve the quality of life for these very special patients and their families.

Adam Triolo, President of AUI Inc., was drawn to the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation by its focus on children with life-altering physical disabilities and their efforts to help these children and their families to focus on the positive, to develop their talents and abilities, to know that no matter the physical limitations, an active, exciting and joyous life is possible. Adam has served on the Foundation's Board of Directors.

The Annual Mudd Volleyball Tournament was a way for AUI Inc. (AUI) to contribute to the Carrie Tingley Foundation through the very thing that AUI does best, utility construction. Adam saw this Foundation as an opportunity for the company and its employees to contribute in a meaningful way by donating their skills, their talents, their time, and at the same time bring the company closer together in the spirit of giving and good fun. Since 1995, AUI has taken on the responsibility of providing the necessary site preparation, water supply, permits, traffic control, cleanup, and restoration of the site that are crucial to the success of the Annual Mudd Volleyball Tournament.

Junior Achievement

AUI was introduced to the Junior Achievement program by the CFO, Michele Zulka-King. Michele strongly supports the Junior Achievement goal which is "Laying a foundation that supports personal financial success includes understanding the basic principles of personal finance. Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life".

Hardhats For Heros

AUI became involved with Hardhats or heroes through NUCA of New Mexico and AUI's Vice President Kari Biernacki, President of NUCA of New Mexico. In 2005, NUCA of New Mexico, in conjunction with Wal-Mart and KOAT 7, raised over $75,000 for NMADA Operation Home Front through the Hardhats for Heroes program. All proceeds went to benefit New Mexico military families with loved ones serving ou country in Iraq and Afghanistan.
